POW: Matt Eich

***TRIGGER WARNING*** The images below are from a real alligator hunt. There are images of violence to animals that may effect some viewers.

Matt Eich‘s photojournalism story about alligator hunting in Louisiana (my home state).

Matt has done this kind of photography for all sorts of publications, including National Geographic Magazine.

The photographer (Matt) was 23 years old when he made this photo essay. I worked with Matt to select these images, and asked him some interview questions (viewable in the images)

To see a (much) longer edit of Matt’s visual story, see here.

POW: Jill Greenberg

From photographer Jill Greenberg’s End Times photo series.

Interested if you think this is “documentary” photography—if it is “photojournalism”—if these are “portraits”—or, none of the above…in which case, where would you place these images in the world of photography genres? What do you think their purpose is? Do you see any elements of “storytelling” here? Anything else to say?
