Another technique photographers use to direct the viewer’s attention is to used what’s called a “Framing Device”
Subjects are enclosed by a frame and become emphasized because they’re separated from the rest of the picture.
When properly positioned around the subject, a tree, an archway, or even people can create a frame within the picture area.
A frame functions as a window that pulls the viewer through, drawn inward, there’s an increase momentum + focus.
In other words, you have to look THROUGH a frame inside your picture to see the focal point. This also adds DEPTH to a photograph…making you feel like something 2 dimensional (an flat image on a flat screen) is something you can go INTO.)
